On Tuesday evening, June 21, traffic was backed up on the Takoradi-Agona-Tarkwah motorway over flooding following a downpour.

Numerous passengers have sought shelter in local shelters and schools to spend the night after being stranded by the occurrence

Over a distance of at least 15 kilometres, traffic grew.
A few automobiles that tried to push through the increasing waves were also swept underwater.

However, there have been no casualties reported.
Residents abandoned their cars to walk home, as did surrounding workers and schoolchildren.

Container trucks making their way to the Takoradi harbour have been caught up in the incident.

Also, industrial vehicles coming from the mining enclave of the region have settled on the shoulders of the road leaving chaotic scenes.
