The absence of speaker of parliament, and the two deputies speaker today forced members to nominate a member to chair the house.
The Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh was nominated as the Presiding Speaker of Parliament for Friday’s proceedings in Parliament in accordance to Standing 12(4)
This follows the absence of the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin and his two Deputies, Joseph Osei Owusu and
Andrew Asiamah Amoako.
The Recommendation was put forward by majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh Dompreh and Seconded by Minority Whip, Kwame Governs Agbodza.
This has been the first in history for a member of parliament to sit in as speaker of parliament.
