Michael Abuah, recently exonerated by the Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as SRC President, is now channeling his efforts towards advocating for the Government of Ghana’s policy on STEM education and leading robust initiatives for environmental protection.
Abuah, who has been lauded for his openness and accountability during the investigation, is currently the youngest member of a Technical Working Committee tasked with finalizing Ghana’s first-ever STEM policy.
Having received training from seasoned civil servants and policy experts at the National Education Reform Secretariat within the Ministry of Education, Abuah has spent the past 18 months contributing to various policy reviews and developments. His work includes significant input on the ICT in Education Policy, Inclusive Education Policy, and ongoing efforts to deepen STEM education in Ghana.
Abuah’s recent advocacy has also focused heavily on environmental protection. In his open letters to the president of Ghana on World Environment Day 2023 and Earth Day 2024, he called for more effective measures to safeguard the environment. His passionate pleas have resonated widely, underscoring the urgency of addressing environmental issues in Ghana.
During his tenure as President of KNUST SRC, Abuah was instrumental in leading advocacies for a green environment. His most celebrated achievement was securing the largest financial support package for 6,000 students at KNUST, preventing their deferral and ensuring their continued education.
Michael Abuah’s multifaceted contributions to education and environmental protection mark him as a rising leader in Ghana, dedicated to creating lasting positive change in the country.
