The Ministry of Health has been encouraged by Ghanaian music legend Stonebwoy to look into measures to lower the cost of dialysis in the nation.

Following reports that several patients at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra had been left stranded, he protested about the rising expense of the medical process in a social media post.

He asked the Ministry of Health to re-evaluate the choice after taking the nation’s economic circumstances into account.

On May 14, Dr. Aboagye Dacosta, the CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), declared that his organization had finalized a policy agreement to lessen the financial burden on end-stage kidney patients.

“The reality is that renal patients undergo eight cycles every month; since we are unable to complete all eight, we must settle for an average, which can be lower than normal. As I previously stated, the report is prepared; it only has to be presented to the board for final approval before implementation can begin,” he continued.
