The Chief Executive Officer for Zonda Sinotruck Assembly plant Limited, Mrs Yang Yang has been convicted by the Tema High court for contempt.

She was convicted on her own plea was sentenced to a fine of 2000 penalty equivalent of GHC 24,000. In Default, she would serve 30 days in jail.

The court presided over by her ladyship Justice Patricia Quansah also fine the legal representative of Zonda Sinotruck to 1000 penalty units, equivalent of GHC 12,000, in default a jail term of 15 days.

Lawyer for the plaintiff cited Mrs Yang Yang and her legal team for contempt of court. Speaking to the media yesterday, lawyer of the plaintiff Archie Martin Danso Jnr said “ for the court tp convict a woman like Yang Yang means the laws are working and the judge is courageous to convict, although we are not happy about the matter, we are happy the court is able to make the order”.

The story goes that while a case of breach of contract pending the court, Zonda sinotrcuck and Mrs Yang Yang, fully aware of the pendency of the suit against Narh Global Services in gross disregard of the court, Stormed Narh Global’s mining firm on 1st August 2023 in the a Ashanti region with about 40 armed soldiers from the 4th battalion infantry and 6 armed police officers.

Its alleged they attacked workers of the mining firm, ceased mobile phones of the workers and allegedly assaulted the workers. It’s alleged that the over 40 military men also siphoned over 1,500 liters of diesel belonging to the mining firm and ceased excavators of the company.
It was on these conduct that the mining firm cited Mrs Yang Yang and Zonda Sinotruck Assembly plant limited for contempt for which the court convicted and fined of GHC 24,000 and GHC 12,000 respectively.

Counsel for the plaintiff, Archie Martin Danso Jnr says they will appeal the running. The Court further directed the plaintiff to file for their defense.
