In collaboration with the Christ Kingdom Christian Mission, the World Citizen Peace Ambassador for Ghana has held a Peace Campaign on October 27 to involve the church in peacebuilding in the lead-up to the December elections.
The event, “Peace for My Country, Ghana: The Role of the Church, Parents, Youth, and the Community in National Peace Building,” emphasized the importance of unity and peace in the lead-up to Ghana’s upcoming elections.
Ms. Gladys Biney, World Citizen Peace Ambassador for Ghana, in an open speech said, individuals have to make peace a priority in their daily lives. She highlighted that peacebuilding starts within families and extends outward to society. “Peace begins at home,” she declared. “If we nurture peace in our families, it will ripple outward into our communities and the nation.”
She also called on churches to actively participate in peacebuilding efforts. Encouraging pastors to preach messages of unity and compassion, Ms. Biney urged religious leaders to embrace all congregants equally, regardless of socioeconomic status. “The church must be a place where all members feel valued and included,” she said. “Promoting equality and togetherness strengthens the foundation of peace in our communities.”
Speaking directly to the youth, Ms. Biney reminded them of their critical role as future leaders. She advised them to be mindful of their actions during this pivotal period, stressing that their decisions will shape Ghana’s future.
“You may not know what the future holds,” she cautioned, “but the choices you make now will determine the kind of nation we will live in tomorrow.”
In her closing remarks, Ms. Biney called on elders, parents, and community leaders to foster open dialogue and mutual respect in resolving conflicts. She underscored that peace is not simply the absence of conflict but also the presence of justice, equality, and understanding.
“As citizens, we all have a role to play in sustaining national peace,” she said. “Let us work together—churches, families, and communities—to ensure that Ghana remains a beacon of peace for generations to come.”
