Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been appointed Policy Adviser for Political Affairs at the Vice President’s Office.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, President John Dramani Mahama’s acting spokesperson, made the statement on Tuesday, January 28.

This appointment is part of a larger effort to assist the Vice President in furthering the government’s “Resetting Ghana” program, which aims to promote national development.

Background

Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo is a prominent and experienced Ghanaian politician with a notable and long history of leadership and governance. Over the years has held numerous significant positions both in government and within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) where his contributions to public services and local government have widely been commended.

He consistently has demonstrated dedication to community development and a commitment to improving lives through effective and efficient leadership.

As a former member of parliament and a minister, Mr Ampofo played a vital role in strengthening the local government system and driving development in rural areas. His election as the national chairman of the NDC in 2018 proved further his obligations as a key figure in the party contributing massively to its policy framework and strategic directions.

His recent appointments as a policy advisor for political affairs at the office of a vice president highlighted the Mahama administration’s intention to bring on board season professionals to push forward the development agenda. This decision is part of the broader “Resetting Ghana” initiative, which tends to address the nation’s pressing needs and challenges and also foster sustainable growth.

The vice president’s office, by appointing experts like Mr Ampofo seeks to enlighten and enhance the quality of its policy-making and implementation process. His wealth of experience and leadership control deems him a valuable addition to the team aimed at advancing Ghana’s progress.
