Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo has disclosed that the team will go into the 2022 FIFA World Cup with absolutely less pressure.
Among the 32 teams to have secured qualification to the tournament to be staged in Qatar, Ghana is the lowest-ranked team.
Going forward, the Black Stars must strive as hard as possible to advance from the group stage for the third time in the country’s history but will first need to overcome challenges from Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
Mr Addo stated that the Black Stars’ return to the global stage shows that Ghanaians have a keen interest in the national team again, hence raising expectations once again ahead of the World Cup.
The Borussia Dortmund coach, therefore, said he does not feel any pressure heading into the tournament later this year.
” For me, at end of the day, it’s just a football match, and pressure is something different”, he told the BBC.
” How I grew up, and even in my time in Ghana, when you don’t know what to eat the next day – that is pressure . And even those who find themselves in that situation still danced and laughed”.
He finally made a statement that he is of full support for the Black Stars team to qualify and we should all hope for the better.
