Over thousands of youth from across the breadth of the country participated in the just-ended Ghana Youth Tech Summit, which was held at the Accra Digital Center on November 8, 2024.
Among the attendees were the special guest speaker, the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, Maher Kheir; online journalist Kobby Kyei; founder and manager of Avance Media, Prince Akpah; National Project Coordinator of the Ghana International Trade Center, Isaac Newtown; Director of Awareness and Outreach at the Ghana Internet Safety Foundation, Gabriel Ofori Appiah; and Managing Editor of Ghana News Guide, Ishmael Awudi.
The Ghana Youth Tech Summit provided a collaborative platform aimed at knowledge sharing, networking, and fostering partnerships to fuel Ghana’s burgeoning digital innovation landscape. The summit sought to unlock the potential of young tech enthusiasts and offer career development opportunities in the fields of technology and digital innovation.
With a mission to inspire Ghanaian youth to pursue careers in technology, the summit also celebrated the accomplishments of young tech innovators, contributing to the establishment of a vibrant tech and digital innovation ecosystem in Ghana.
The summit featured three dynamic panel discussions. The first, moderated by Prince Akpah of Avance Media, explored “Digital Inclusion and Accessibility,” focusing on the roles of youth, industry players, and government in creating a more inclusive digital landscape.
Ambassador Kheir stated, “We stand on the edge of a future where innovation does not simply adjust to our needs, but elevates humanity itself.” Stressing that technology has reshaped how people live, learn, work, and connect, he noted that with thoughtful application, technology can address global challenges, including healthcare and food security, and significantly improve lives worldwide.
“These innovations are not only transforming lives; they are saving them,” he said, underscoring the need for international collaboration. “When we work together, sharing knowledge and tools, we can accelerate progress toward solutions that benefit everyone.” He encouraged young people to “embrace technology that is both meaningful and impactful… and use your talent to build a more inclusive and just future.”
