Leadership of Teacher Unions made up of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT Gh.) have declared strike over failure by Government to pay the 20% Cost of Living Allowance (CoLA)

Speaking at a Press Conference in Accra, President of CCT Gh, King Ali Awudu stated that the declaration of strike action is necessary after several calls by the Teacher Unions for a 20% CoLA grant by the Government fell on deaf ears.

He added that they have been compelled under the current circumstances to go on strike, having gone past the June 30, 2022 deadline given Government for the payment of the Allowance.

He, therefore, urged all workers; both teaching and non-teaching staff in all the Pre-Tertiary educational spaces to withdraw their services by the indefinite strike action.
