On April 15, 2015, a Nigerian female FM presenter named Adaezi Onyinyechie Ayoka was allegedly kidnapped and raped by five individuals in Takoradi. Ada, as she was popularly known due to her exceptional on-air program, went missing for five days before reappearing on April 20 at around 1:00 am. She appeared disheveled, partially unclothed, and confused, claiming that she had been gang-raped by five unidentified individuals.
The radio station released a statement stating that she had been abducted after being declared missing for five days. The statement was posted on the station’s website, accompanied by a desperate plea for her captors to release her. Images of Ada, allegedly taken during the rape, circulated on social media, though the faces of her alleged captors were obscured. It was reported that her abductors had shaved off her hair after the assault.
However, police sources revealed that reports of her abductions had been frequent enough for them to suspect that she would reappear with another fabricated story after the Easter holidays. Despite her boyfriend’s efforts to get the police to investigate the previous incidents, Ada remained uncooperative with law enforcement.
Regarding this particular abduction, sources speculated that it might have been a prank gone wrong. The outcome of the case remains unknown. In a similar case in Abesim, Richard Appiah, a 28-year-old man believed to be an architect, surveyor, and footballer, killed two children and stored parts of their bodies in a refrigerator in Alaska, a suburb of Abesim near Sunyani in the Bono Region. The victims were identified as 15-year-old Stephen Boateng, a JHS 2 student, and the suspect’s 12-year-old step-brother, Louis Agyemang.
Richard reportedly gained the victims’ trust by cooking for them and showing them kindness before luring and ultimately killing them one by one.
