Ghanaian Dancehall Musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known for his music craft as Shatta Wale has reportedly pleaded guilty to publication of false news.

He was fined GH¢ 2,000 in default of which he will be imprisoned for three (3) months after he changed his plea from not guilty to guilty before His Worship, Emmanuel Essandoh of the Circuit Court 4.

The ‘On God’ hitmaker was arraigned before Court for publishing on social media that his life was in danger, in alignment to prophecies of death that he claimed were about him.

His lawyer, Jerry Avenogbor, seconded by the prosecutor, ASP Maxwell Oppong told the Court that he was a first-time offender who was remorseful of the act.

BACKGROUND

Shatta Wale was arrested in October 2021 for falsely publicizing claims that he had been shot in a gun attack on him in Accra.

He added that he took the phones of the team members and made the fake post.
