Pent TV Anchor Kwabena Mantey and wife, Eunice Mantey have donated exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners to Miawani M/A Basic School, located in the Koransang Electoral Area of Suhum in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Miawani is a farming community in the Suhum Municipality with limited access to basic amenities, including potable water and proper school facilities. The Miawani M/A Basic School, the only school in the community, has long struggled with poor conditions, leading to a shortage of teachers willing to serve there. Currently, the school is managed by just two dedicated teachers, the headteacher and his assistant.

A year ago, Kwabena Mantey visited the school and witnessed the challenging conditions faced by both pupils and teachers. Moved by what he saw, he decided to take action. On his return visit, Mantey, alongside his wife, organized a soccer tournament between Miawani M/A Basic School and Koransang Basic School, bringing joy and excitement to the pupils and the entire community.

In addition to the tournament, the Manteys donated essential school supplies, including exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners. They also provided water bottles, a set of jerseys for the school, a football, a trophy, and a cash prize for the tournament winners. Refreshments were also part of the donation package.

The headteacher of the school, Ishmael Gyamfi, expressed immense gratitude for the support, highlighting the positive impact these resources would have on the pupils’ learning experience.
“Miawani school lacks many educational infrastructures, such as a school building and desks. This gesture by Mr. Kwabena Mantey is a huge relief for us.”

The event was graced by the presence of officers from the Municipal Education Directorate Schools Improvement Support, led by Mr. Emmanuel Mantey, who commended the Manteys for their benevolence.

The community leader, the Acting Odikro of Miawani, Rev. Daniel Awuku, also expressed his appreciation, noting that such gestures bring hope and development to underserved communities.

This contribution by Kwabena Mantey and his wife underscores the necessity of supporting education in rural areas, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to learn and thrive in a conducive environment.
