Minister responsible for Works and Housing Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has disclosed that ten entities have expressed interest in the  Saglemi affordable housing project.

He explained that this was after the ministry had sent out proposals expecting both private and consortium developers to apply from April 17, 2024 and July 8, 2024 while evaluation is slated for July 9, 2024.

The contract is expected to be signed on August 30, 2024 to facilitate the beginning of the project completion.

The scope for the private partner includes the completion of the 1,506 housing units to habitable standards, show of project financing capabilities, legal and regulatory compliance and the provision of infrastructure such as electricity, water supply, sewage treatment, waste disposal and roads to support residential life.

“Couple of months ago, we issued a request for proposals till date I am briefed that about 10 Companies, international and local have expressed interest, picked up forms and have been taken to the project site to inspect works that have been left there so far;the necessary dilapidation reports and they are putting together their proposals” he disclosed

Speaking to the press outside the chambers of parliament on Wednesday June,19,2024,Oppong Nkrumah elaborated that according to the web plan the ministry have put together, by the eighth or on the eighth of July, they are expecting to formally receive all of the bids then subsequently hand over to an independent Evaluation Entity, which will give government in turn an evaluation report and base on that, it will proceed to select one of the bidders.

“When that selection is done, we will get the necessary cabinet approvals sign the necessary contract and then handover to them.

Again, the ministry is also going through the process of selecting these independent evaluation organizations, of which they will be going before the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) to get one selected for them to do the evaluation

He equally assured that government is fully committed to completing these uncompleted projects.

“We are committed to completing these uncompleted projects,in koforidua as well, one of President Kufuo’s Affordable Housing Project, from before 2008 is still out there, also going through a process of re-awarding the contract for that particular project to be completed” he assured
