Recognition, they say, is the most basic form of reward and a powerful motivator. Growing up, I always loved to be rewarded and recognized for my hard work and good deeds.
Who would not love to be rewarded or recognized in society? Can you imagine how you would feel if your hard work is not acknowledged?
Recognition motivates people to work hard, provides a sense of accomplishment, and makes people feel valued. I would always study hard to be recognised and appreciated in school. The pride I always felt could not be measured.
For this reason, the Ghana Tourism Authority instituted the National Tourism Awards to recognise and reward excellence in the tourism and hospitality chain. The Awards ceremony is organised to honour industry stakeholders and practitioners who have excelled and significantly contributed to the development of tourism in Ghana. These include tour operators, hoteliers, restaurants, and many more.
By celebrating excellence, the National Tourism Awards does not only recognise outstanding achievements but also sets a benchmark for quality service in Ghana’s Tourism sector, inspiring continued growth and development. The National Tourism Awards ceremony typically attracts high-profile personalities from government, the diplomatic community, business, academia, and the tourism industry, highlighting its significance and esteem in which it is held.
The National Tourism Awards sets the tone for high standards in service delivery among practitioners in the tourism sector. As Dale Carnegie said, “people work for money but go the extra mile for recognition, praise, and rewards.” The National Tourism Awards seeks to recognise and acknowledge people who have gone the extra mile to work hard to achieve excellence in the tourism sector.
Through this Awards ceremony, the Ghana Tourism Authority has not only helped acknowledge and motivate people and organisations but has also improved the growth and development of Ghana’s Tourism Industry.
To us whose efforts and hard work have not been recognised yet, let us not give up and continue to work assiduously .Our efforts and hard work will surely be rewarded someday.
A reflection on this adage will also urge us on to work hard.As stated in Philip Stanhope’s letter to his son,
‘Whatever you do, do it to the purpose; and whatever is worth doing at all, is worth doing well.‘
