The People’s National Convention (PNC) has thrown its weight behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the upcoming December 7 elections. This decision follows the disqualification of PNC’s presidential candidate, Bernard Mornah, by the Electoral Commission (EC) due to errors in his nomination forms.
During a National Executive Meeting on November 26, 2024, the majority of PNC executives voted to support the NDC.
“At the end of deliberation, we collectively and majority declared that the PNC, we will throw our support to the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Presidential Candidate for the 2024 general elections,” he announced.
National Chairman Asaki Sampson Awingobit announced the decision at a press conference on November 27, stating that the PNC could not remain neutral so close to the elections.
Flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah was disqualified from contesting the 2024 elections on September 20, 2024.
Mornah, one of 11 disqualified presidential aspirants, subsequently contested his disqualification in both the High Court and Supreme Court but lost the case. With the elections just nine days away, the PNC has decided to align with the NDC to ensure their political influence is felt.
