Carlos Kingsley Ahenkora, the Member of Parliament for Tema West, has called upon the youth wing in his constituency to maintain hope and support the government.
Speaking at the inauguration of the youth wing in Accra, under the theme “Victory 2024, The Role of the Youth,” Ahenkora emphasized the crucial role the youth will play in the upcoming 2024 General election.
Ahenkora praised the resilience and dedication shown by the youth wing, despite the ongoing economic challenges faced by the country. He stressed that the party’s success in the next election depends heavily on the support and active participation of its constituents.
“Our goal is to ‘break the 8,’ a feat that no party has achieved in our Fourth Republican history,” Ahenkora declared. “To accomplish this, the youth wing must lead the charge. Without the majority of young people rallying behind the party, we cannot achieve our objective.”
Highlighting the significant proportion of Ghana’s population that comprises youth, Ahenkora explained that no political party can secure victory without the support of the younger generation. He acknowledged that winning the trust and loyalty of young people has become increasingly challenging but emphasized its importance.
Ahenkora further revealed that the youth wing will be at the forefront of the party’s efforts to retain power in the upcoming elections. He encouraged the youth to take on this responsibility with determination and vigor.
Supporting Ahenkora’s message, Kwasi Opoku Bosompem, the Constituency Chairman for Tema West, issued a warning to government appointees, Chief Executive Officers, Municipal Chief Executives, and Directors. Bosompem stated that any officials unable to support the youth wing should be removed from their positions. He referred to the recent Assin North by-election as a lesson, emphasizing the need to adhere to party structures.
“The loss in Assin North serves as a warning to us,” Bosompem cautioned. “We need to follow party structures. Today, I assure the youth that I will work alongside them to accomplish our goals.”
Bosompem expressed concern over the negative impact certain government appointees and officials have had on the party’s chances of success in the 2024 General election. He vowed to engage with all government appointees in the constituency, emphasizing the importance of caution and unity in the upcoming election.
The Constituency Youth Organizer for Tema West, Prince Kofi Boamah, echoed the sentiments expressed by Ahenkora and Bosompem. Boamah pledged to sacrifice resources and work tirelessly to support the grassroots youth and secure victory in the 2024 General elections.
