GIPC to Attract Diaspora Investments at Black History Festival 2025

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts has been a strategic partner for the Black History Festivals since 2023 when it was held in Columbus, Ohio as part of the task of  promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and artistic endeavors both domestically and internationally.

In a conversation, the Deputy Minister and the BIDEC INC officials agreed it was essential for Ghana to participate conspicuously to strengthen its cultural diplomacy by actively engaging with the diaspora while showcasing Ghana’s vibrant arts and culture scene on a global platform.

Mr Obeng Fianko, Head of Africa operation stated that this year’s edition will host a series of artistic performances, exhibitions, and cultural showcases that highlight the depth of Africa’s traditions—from vibrant drumming and dancing to contemporary art forms. He also stated that the team expects the Ministry to spearhead the curation of some programs, ensuring that Ghanaians living abroad and international guests can experience the richness of Ghanaian culture first-hand. BIDEC INC also stated that the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Ghana Dance Association is expected to display the tourism and the cultural component of the Ministry.

In addition to showcasing Ghana’s cultural richness, the Ministry will work towards forging partnerships between Ghanaian artists, musicians, and cultural practitioners and their counterparts in the diaspora and also to attract fellow African American and Caribbean industry players.  The interactions facilitated by the festival are expected to lead to collaborative projects, workshops, and creative exchanges that will not only honor Ghana’s heritage but also generate new ideas and innovations in art and culture for Africa. By fostering these partnerships, the Ministry contributes to the ongoing dialogue between cultures and communities.

With a keen focus on promoting Ghana’s creative economy, the Ministry will also highlight the opportunities within the creative industries during the festival. By hosting panels and discussions, stakeholders will address topics such as the Black Star Experience, the Marine Drive Project, sustainable tourism, the role of arts in community development, and the economic potential of cultural investment. The proactive involvement of the Ministry emphasizes the importance of the creative sector as a significant contributor to national development and global awareness of Ghana’s offerings.
