Chief Director of the Ministry of Health, Kwabena Boadu Oku Afari has disclosed that the sector and his agencies will take deliberate efforts to expand access to health infrastructure and strengthen the national health insurance scheme.

He said this access will provide financial cover for the use of health services, scale up quality improvement strategies across the health system and strengthen multi-sectoral governance for health by working closely with all stakeholders and partners to address this in a comprehensive manner.

Speaking on behalf of the sector Minister, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu at the commemoration of the 2022 International universal health coverage day in Accra, reassured the people of Ghana of their commitment to work tirelessly to change the narrative and break barriers in the delivery of quality and client-centered health services that are devoid of catastrophic financial harm to all people in Ghana.

 

commemoration of the 2022 International universal healthAccording to him, the health ministry is poised to achieve universal health coverage for the people of Ghana through the implementation of the Universal health coverage roadmap (2020-2023) which will align with the Accra Declaration on UHC as all people in Ghana will have access to high-quality health services irrespective of ability to pay at the point of use.

The Health Advisor of the United Kingdom Government, foreign Commonwealth Development office, Ghana (FCDO), Uzoamaka Gilpin said they will continue to work with the government as health development partners to ensure that, every Ghanaian irrespective of their geographical differences will be able to receive the care they need at the right time with good quality health care and urged the government to continue to invest in health to make good progress.
