The Minority in parliament has condemned the timing of employing some 15,200 nurses by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The minority caucus indicated that while the news was welcome, there are fears of the government’s deceptive nature resurfacing.

The Minority, at a press conference today, July 29, 2024, spelled out that recruitments should be, at the very least, a predictable annual affair that feeds into a broad framework of consistently delivering quality health services for Ghanaians.

At a press conference addressed today by the Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Health and MP for the Juaboso constituency, Honourable Kwabena Mintah Akandoh cautioned the government about what he termed “last-minute recruitment.”

This caution stemmed from some records available to the Caucus.

He stated that the political gimmickry with recruitment into the Ghana Health Service has precedence which could be cited.
