Kumawood actor and comedian Lil Win, known for his native Twi language prowess, has boldly declared his political ambitions and revealed his unique approach to communication if elected as a Member of Parliament (MP). Despite criticism from skeptics who question his ability to speak English fluently, Lil Win has a clear message for them.
The renowned Kumawood actor and musician has assured his potential constituents that he will converse with them in his mother tongue, Twi, and provide English translations as needed. Lil Win firmly believes that the value of his ideas and contributions to society, especially his constituency, transcends any potential language barriers. He emphasized that common sense is a universal language, asserting, “We use common sense to speak English.”
During an interview with prominent blogger Nkonkonsa in Cape Coast, Lil Win, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Weezy Empire and Great Minds International School, reaffirmed his commitment to assisting the youth of his constituency in job creation. He noted that the youth are not lazy but rather face unemployment challenges.
Furthermore, Lil Win disclosed that he has garnered support from wealthy individuals, business leaders, and potential campaign partners, including Kwame Nkrumah Tikesee of Okay FM, who will serve as his campaign manager. He confidently stated, “Common sense is bigger than English. We use common sense to speak English, so if I don’t understand English, I will speak Twi for it to be translated, like what the Chinese do, especially their president.”
Lil Win officially announced his intention to run as an independent candidate for the Afigya Kwabre South seat in the Ashanti region in the upcoming 2024 general elections. He cited numerous calls from traditional leaders and constituents who have expressed confidence in his ability to represent the constituency, currently held by the New Patriotic Party’s William Owuraku Aidoo as the Member of Parliament.
