In a gesture of support for the Libyans afflicted by the floods on September 11, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity of Libya Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba has ordered a 10-day nationwide suspension of education.

The declaration was issued late on Wednesday by the internationally acclaimed Government of National Unity of Libya, which is situated in Tripoli.

Both of Libya’s two rival governments, the internationally recognised Government of National Unity headed by Prime Minister Al-Dabaiba and the eastern Libyan government headed by Prime Minister Osama Hamad, have been working to respond to the flood-stricken eastern Libya.

The notification also stated that schools would be able to serve as temporary shelters for flood victims while classes are suspended.
