Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged Ghanaians to respect the outcome of the December 7 2024 elections to protect Ghana’s democratic integrity.
Addressing journalists, Kufuor called for calm throughout the electoral process and emphasized that unity should prevail both during and after the elections.
The former president also encouraged all political parties to prioritize the country’s interests and discourage divisive rhetoric that could heighten tensions. Emphasizing the power of democracy and peaceful transitions, Kufuor expressed his belief that a fair and transparent electoral process would strengthen Ghana’s standing as a democratic beacon in Africa.
He reminded citizens that Ghana’s future relies on the collective efforts of its people, urging everyone to contribute to a peaceful election season. He reiterated his call for all Ghanaians to vote responsibly, respect the democratic process, and work together to uphold the nation’s peace and unity.
Kufuor also endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flag bearer, as the best candidate to revitalize Ghana. Reflecting on his observations since meeting Bawumia in 2003, Kufuor praised his innovative governance approach and a strong grasp of the nation’s economic landscape, highlighting his potential to lead Ghana toward economic prosperity.
He further noted that Bawumia’s dedication and contributions, particularly in the digital transformation of Ghana’s financial systems, demonstrate his capability to address the country’s pressing economic challenges. He pointed out that Bawumia’s deep understanding of Ghana’s economic realities and his role in several key policy reforms make him a credible leader in tackling issues like inflation, job creation, and economic stability.
