The Member of Parliament for the Krowor Constituency, Honourable Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Larteh, has implemented an educational intervention for learners within her constituency.
The extra classes, she noted, are tailored towards innovation that will bring slow learners up to speed with their peers.
The initiative, a 4-week holiday class program aimed at complementing the efforts of teachers and filling gaps during the normal school period, commenced last Monday, August 5, 2024. However, the official launch took place on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
Addressing the gathering of learners from schools around the constituency, parents, and party followers, the elated MP stated, “Our learners, whatever you are doing today is part of a foundation you are laying for your own building, which is your life.”
Honourable Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Larteh appealed to teachers, head teachers, parents, and others to commit their utmost best to ensure the quality of education that the future leaders so much desire.
The lawmaker further pledged her unwavering support to ensuring that the best in life through education is provided for learners within the constituency. She is resolute in her conviction that education serves as the key to unlocking the full potential and wealth of pupils, and she is therefore committed to assisting within her power.
Referencing the quote from Nelson Mandela, she intimated that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” She expressed hope that the dedication and hard work of teachers, parents, and herself as Krowor’s legislator would build the confidence of learners.
Though she noted that the classes will be liberal for learners to socialize and network, Dr. Naa Momo Larteh cautioned, “It will not offer learners the fortitude to misbehave to the detriment of their glorious future.”
She underscored the importance of the extra classes in equipping the learners to draw what she termed “a personalized study plan with utmost discipline, commitment, and dedication in the attainment of the desired goal.”
Being the first group of beneficiaries of the MP’s educational intervention, she is hopeful that the initiative will improve their end results.
“You’ll not fail yourselves; you’ll not fail us, will you?” she asked, and the obvious response was “No.”
She sternly cautioned that the MP’s educational intervention will not be business as usual because they want the learners to succeed.
In conclusion, Honourable Agnes Naa Momo Larteh urged learners not to commit less time to learning rather than playing and returning home with nothing. “We want you to stay focused and stand out. If you abuse the opportunity, you close the door to those behind you.”
She is upbeat that with seriousness, the narrative of students not getting into the schools of their choice will end if they see the intervention as an opportunity to learn.
She sought the support of all present to help monitor the learners, mentor, and coach them into greatness to succeed where others have failed, to excel as better managers of the nation and its future, so that they may become better than the current generation.
She expressed her appreciation to the teachers, stressing, “The learners are the faces of the world we want and the hope for the future, the world we want and the country we want to build with leaders such as you. Don’t give up when we haven’t given up on you. Go for the gold, as we promise to be with you every step of the way as much as the Lord will allow. Confide in us when you have challenges. Our desire is that the bottlenecks we faced while going through the educational ladder will be surmounted by you.”
Mr. Azeriya Ayariga, of the Education Directorate, urged the learners to be punctual in order to gain the full benefits of the intervention.
Reminding learners of the time frame left to write their BECE, the Education Director urged them to be regular and punctual in order to reap the full benefits of the intervention. This is one of the interventions rolled out with the kind courtesy of the Honourable Member of Parliament.
He pledged his outfit’s commitment to putting measures in place towards the realization of what he termed “a resounding success.”
The Chairman of the constituency, Reverend Benjamin Danso, cited an experience he had prior to the time of writing his Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
According to him, he had friends with diverse ambitions, some of which suggested going to the gym while others proposed a place in the bush, so they went to the bush.
In the bush, he disclosed that a junior of his brought a substance from his pocket and lit it. While sitting in a circle, they passed the lighted substance in turns.
When it got to him, the chairman said he declined the offer.
Consequently, he noted that all eight boys engaged in that practice had their lives messed up.
He urged the learners to seize the glorious opportunity as a launching pad to catapult their lives to the next level.
