The Ashaiman circuit Court has jailed a retired soldier in prison for eight years in hard labour.
Karim Tintin aged 70 pleaded guilty to the charge of causing harm contrary to section 69 of the criminal offences Act 1960(29).
He was convicted and sentenced on his own plea for inflicting knife and iron bar wounds on the stomach,throat and left arm of one Sumaila Amadu.
The court presided over by H/H Simon Gaga Nketiah found him guilty convicted and sentenced him on his own guilty plea.
Presenting the D/C/Inspector John Goka I/C, the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Joyce N. told the court that the complainant, Sumaila Amadu aged 32 is a labourer and resident of Mexico whilst Karim Tintin aged 70,the accused and a retired soldier resident of Ashaiman- Mexico both of whom are livestock farmers.
The prosecutor told the court that on the 04/02/2024, the complainant lost his belly goat and went round the community in search of the missing animal.
On the 07/02/2024 whilst the complainant was on his search, decided to enquire from the accused person if his missing billy goat had accidentally joined that of his but the accused got infuriated and picked quarrel with the complainant.
The prosecutor further told the court that the accused in the state of anger pulled a sharp knife and an iron bar and inflicted deep cuts on complainant’s stomach,right arm,and the neck.
After the complainant was rushed to the hospital by the police and on admission, the accused person brought a blood stained knife and iron bar to the Katamanso Police and reported that the complainant rather used the above-mentioned to attack him but he managed to collect same from him.
The prosecutor told the court that there was no mark of assault on the accused person.
He was arrested and the exhibits retained for evidential purposes.
After investigation, the accused person was charged with the offence as indicated on the charge sheet and put before the honourable court.
