The Police have contacted Kwame Asare Obeng, A-Plus, to assist in the investigation of the untimely death of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale who was shot by an unknown assailant on January 16, 2019.
This came up as a result of A-Plus’s claims on social media that he has relevant information about the case.
A-Plus asserted during a July 13 Facebook live session that he is aware of the unknown assailant who murdered the late investigative journalist Ahmed Husein Suale.
He made it clear that, should the need arise, he is always prepared and available to support his assertion.
He said that he would sue the police and make sure they gave him security before he spoke to them if they attempted to act shrewdly.
The independent parliamentary candidate for Gomoa Central has reportedly received an invitation from the police, which states as follows: “The Cold Case Unit, which was created in October 2021 under the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to handle cases of this nature, has been working on the investigation into the case and closely engaging with the deceased’s family.
“Mr. Kwame Asare Obeng (A-Plus) has been invited in light of his indication that he may have information that could aid the ongoing investigation, which the Police are pleased to hear.”
Choosing to involve him underscores the importance of any leads or evidence he may have that could help the inquiry along.
The passing of Ahmed Suale has continued to be closely watched and cause for concern in Ghana, especially among journalists.
