The National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has announced a 10 percent increase in Ghana’s National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) for 2025, bringing the new rate to GH₵19.97.

The decision was reached at a meeting held in Accra on Thursday, 20th February 2025.

“That the Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) has been increased by 10% across the board from January 2025 to December 2025,” a communique issued by the NTC read.

All establishments, institutions, and organizations are required to comply.

The wage adjustment forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure fair compensation for workers while balancing economic stability and business sustainability.

Announcing the decision in Accra on Thursday, February 20, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo said: “There has been an increase in the national daily minimum wage by 10 percent over the 2024 National Daily Minimum Wage which translates into a new national daily minimum wage of 19.97 Cedis.

“The effective date for the implementation of the 2025 minimum wage shall be the first of March 2025, all establishments, institutions, or organizations whose daily minimum wages are below the new wage should adjust accordingly.”

Previous wage

The previous minimum wage was GH ¢18.15, a little over $1.

It was increased from the previous GH¢14.88, in the 2023 financial year.

The previous government and organized labor failed to begin negotiations for the 2025 minimum wage and base pay.

The over 700,000 public servants in the country received a 15 percent pay rise in 2024.
