God always moves me three times ahead but this time He (God) took me back to relearn, unlearn, and learn, Hon. Felicia Adjei said.
The newly re-elected Member of Parliament for Kintampo South reflects on her journey back to political prominence after suffering defeat in the 2020 elections. Hon. Adjei, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), previously held her parliamentary seat from 2017 to 2021. Despite the setback in the 2020 election, her steadfast commitment to her constituents and unwavering spirit led her to reclaim her seat in the 2024 elections with a decisive win of 57.88% over her opponent Alexander Gyan, who secured 42.12%.
Hon. Adjei’s journey is not just political; it is deeply personal. Speaking candidly about her educational background to Ishmael Awudi, she recalls her formative years at a Vocational Institute, where she began her journey in vocational education. Her passion for learning has never waned, and in 2023, she earned a qualification in Human Resource Management from Kings University College. She also completed a professional program in executive education-women and power at Harvard Kennedy School in the USA. Most recently, Hon. Adjei completed a Master’s degree in Leadership and Governance at GIMPA.
Emerging from a background of hard work and dedication, she recognized the need for better representation in her constituency. Inspired by the then-incoming First Lady, Lordina Mahama, and her commitment to gender equality, Hon. Adjei envisioned uplifting her community. With this motivation, she courageously entered the political arena, contested the parliamentary seat in 2016, and emerged victorious.
Her passion for service was evident early in her life, as she actively supported community initiatives and grassroots campaigns within the National Democratic Congress (NDC). She also served as an usher in the NDC at the Weija Constituency around the 1990s.
Beyond her political aspirations, Hon. Felicia Adjei has also embraced her journey, which includes living abroad and managing a business that supplies police uniforms and boots. Her experiences in America helped shape her perspective, allowing her to bring a diverse set of skills back to Ghana.
