The winner of Season 5 of the innovative Presidential Pitch will receive a whopping GHS250,000.
This announcement was made at the launch of Season 5 of the Presidential Pitch in Accra.
Graced by previous winners and other participants, Season 5 promises to be even bigger.
Since Season 5 marks the last term for President H.E. Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo, organizers aim to reach a larger audience and expect many youth businesses to apply.
The initiative seeks to unearth even more hidden talents among youth aged 18 to 40 years.
Unveiling the event on August 2, 2024, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) emphasized that the initiative is life-changing and one of its kind. The program is tailored towards discovering hidden business acumen to attract funding from the governing body.
Underscoring the need for young business entrepreneurs to seize the opportunity, the Deputy CEO of NIEP maintained that the initiative is a game-changer in the current era.
With the theme “Youth Entrepreneurship: Power and Possibilities,” the Deputy CEO disclosed that ninety-five finalists have been trained and funded under the Presidential Pitch.
While announcing that the application portal will open on Friday, August 16 at 11:59 pm, she stated that the initiative has created 702 direct jobs and approximately 1,000 indirect jobs.
She further explained that areas such as agriculture, fintech and technology, manufacturing and processing, tourism and the creative arts, TVET, and other economically viable areas will be the focal points.
Regarding the methodology, she explained there will be a call for applications from the day of the launch. Thirty applicants will be selected, followed by training for all 30 applicants. Fifteen applicants will be selected in the quarter-finals, while 10 finalists will be chosen for the semi-finals, leading to the grand finale.
Detailing the requirements for eligibility, the Deputy CEO of YEA, Abigail Swaad Laryea, noted that applicants must be Ghanaian citizens between the ages of 18 and 40 at the time of application.
She further added that the business must be innovative, feasible, scalable, and impactful to qualify.
In conclusion, she noted that the business must be an original work of the applicant and free of any infringement on the intellectual property rights of others.
