The Ghana Health Service (GHS), the largest agency under the Ministry of Health, has awarded its staff and institutions to celebrate their commitment and hard work.
The GHS guided by its vision of ensuring a healthy population with universal access to quality health services, GHS continues to implement innovative initiatives to enhance healthcare delivery across the nation.
In its quest to improve performance and accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage, GHS has introduced an Awards Scheme to recognize and celebrate its staff and institutions. This initiative, described as both comprehensive and groundbreaking, aims to foster national pride, patriotism, and professionalism among health workers, particularly those who operate in challenging environments.
The awards are also intended to promote a culture of achievement and excellence, attract and retain health professionals in underserved areas, and motivate underperforming staff to strive for future recognition. Additionally, the scheme plays a vital role in enhancing customer care and ensuring patient satisfaction across healthcare facilities.
Launched in December 2022, the Awards Scheme was successfully implemented in 2023 and has since garnered widespread acclaim. This year’s edition builds on that success and is being organized in partnership with MullenLowe Accra and KPMG. It aimed to recognize the efforts of 2,682 individuals and institutions at various service levels across the country, including 2,372 awards at the district level, 280 at the regional level, and 30 at the national level.
The awards ceremony occurred at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC) on Wednesday, 20th November 2024, at 5:30 PM. The event had His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, as the Special Guest of Honour, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse as the Guest Speaker.
