The Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA) took center stage at the Ghana National Tourism Awards, held on November 28th, as they were presented with the esteemed award for “Trade Associations – Contribution to Tourism Development.”
The gala event, a highlight of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the Ghana Tourism Authority, gathered key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to recognize and celebrate excellence in the tourism industry.
The glittering ceremony was not only a testament to the 50-year legacy of the Ghana Tourism Authority but also a vibrant showcase of the country’s rich culture and music, providing a fitting backdrop to honor those making remarkable strides in Ghana’s tourism landscape.
The citation accompanying TOUGHA’s award underscored the pivotal role played by the private sector in the flourishing tourism industry, commending TOUGHA’s unwavering commitment to fostering the growth of domestic tourism in Ghana. Since 2020, TOUGHA has actively engaged its members in immersive experiences, exploring tourist sites and attractions across the nation.
One of TOUGHA’s standout initiatives highlighted in the citation was its instrumental role in executing the Ghana Tourism Authority’s domestic campaign, “See Ghana, Share Ghana.” This initiative, spanning several years, has been a driving force in encouraging locals to explore and appreciate the diverse beauty that Ghana has to offer.
The Ghana Tourism Authority expressed its pleasure in presenting the Honorary Award to TOUGHA, recognizing the union’s efforts in propelling the tourism sector forward. Mrs. Alisa Osei-Asamoah, the President of TOUGHA, led the delegation to receive the award. In her remarks, she expressed gratitude for the recognition and dedicated the award to her executive team and the members of TOUGHA.
