CEO, Asaase Radio and a stern member of the NPP government has said in a tweet that Ghanaians do not want to pay tax

The tweet reads” If the e-levy is not bringing in the estimated revenues, it does not mean it is a bad tax. It means Ghanaians simple do not want to pay tax”

His tweet was a backup statement he made early which reads:

After 5 months of stalemate and bashing, the e-levy after its implementation is delivering only 10% of estimated revenues.

He added that our revenue remains low as compared to the rest of the world; debt levels are dangerously high, and the cedi, like most currencies, struggling against the US dollar. He said.

The Commissioner-General of the GRA, Dr Owusu-Amoah said the revenue target for the E-Levy had been revised downwards to GH¢4.5 billion from the initial GH¢6.9 billion, following the reduction in the rate from 1.75 to 1.5 per cent and the delay in the implementation.
