The total number of Lassa fever cases in Ghana has increased to 14 as the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has identified 12 more cases.

As per the latest GHS data, one person has died due to the illness. The GHS revealed that the first victim, a 40-year-old trader, had been sick for nearly two weeks before succumbing to the disease at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The GHS has advised people to seek medical attention at the nearest hospital if they experience any symptoms.

The GHS has located 97 contacts so far and is continuing its efforts to locate more. The GHS released this information in a statement on Tuesday, 28 February 2023.
