There was drama at Ateamanso Zongo in the Ashanti Region when Deputy Finance Minister and MP for Nhyiaeso, Dr Stephen Amoah allegedly pulled a gun at some young men.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened when some youth accosted the Deputy Minister on November 26 to demand that he honored his promise.
“The Unity and Love Family invited MP and his opponent for a launch, the MP promised to give the group GHS5,000 after the event, but he refused to honor his pledge. So he was accosted by the youth. In the course of verbal exchange, one of the guys pulled a toy gun and pointed it at the MP, who also went into his car and pulled a pistol thus creating pandemonium” an eyewitness told 3news.com

Another eyewitness said, “The MP was advising the youth against drugs, some took offense and started raising issues of an unfulfilled Astroturf project. During that, one of the boys pulled an object which looked like a gun. The MP became apprehensive, and he also went into his car and pulled his live gun.”
Meanwhile, Dr Stephen Amoah confirmed the incident with 3news.
According to him, “My life was in danger, I had to defend myself. Even Jesus Christ will react if you pull a gun at him.”

The brandishing of toy guns is said to have become a trend in Garden City.
The Police consider this as a criminal offense, hence 26 persons have been arrested so far.
