At the backdrop of the orders from the office of the Chief of Staff which order directs the immediate termination of all appointments and recruitments done after January 7, 2024, the Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku-Ansah says that the order is wrong and breaches some provisions of the constitution.

He quoted Article 191, which concerns protecting civil servants from arbitrary dismissal, arguing that an ordinary public servant can not be dismissed just because he was employed after January 7.

The lawmaker stressed that it was unfair for people’s appointments to be revocated, not because they are unfit for purpose or do not qualify but because of the period in which those recruitments were done.

Mr. Opoku-Ansah challenged the Chief of Staff to come out and render clarity based on his order.
