Sing-a-thon by a Ghanaian entrepreneur and journalist, Afua Asantewaa has sparked a lot of conventions among individual supporters on what to do and what not to do.
Per checks by Ghana News Guide these are the accepted rules governing the sing-a-thon by an individual
No piece of music may be repeated in performance within 4 hours.
Applicant is permitted to take a 5-minutes break every hour or
20-minutes break after 4 hours.
Jamming is not allowed.
Applicants may be accompanied or not accompanied.
If accompanied, no musician may play for more than 4 hours, after which they must take a break of a least 4hours.
After the attempt, a playlist of all tunes performed must be maintained and submitted with the claim.
Applications are granted to applicant who are 16+ years old.
Songs sung throughout the attempt must be recognisable & performed to a reasonable standard.
Singing must be continuous with only brief pauses of not more than 30 seconds in between songs.
Each song performed must last for at least 2 minutes.
At 9:00am today, Ghana’s Afua Asantewaa hit the Guinness World Records for longest singing marathon by an individual after singing for 105 hours.
Indian singer, Sunil Waghmare holds the current record and Afua Asantewaa intends doing 115 hours to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest sing-a-thon after the last record was made in 2012.
