Gospel singer Empress Gifty has sparked controversy with her recent comments on cheating in marriage.
According to the ‘Aseda’ singer, cheating is a normal part of marriage, and admitting to it can save couples from heartbreak.
In a recent interview with Accra FM, Gifty advised married couples to acknowledge that their partner is human and that cheating is a weakness that can be forgiven.
She went on to say that the divorce from her first marriage to Prophet Elisha Osei in 2014 brought her a lot of pain, including depression and other mental challenges. Gifty also accused some gospel musicians and bloggers of contributing to her divorce by sending false information to her ex-husband.
Despite the challenges she faced, Gifty has moved on and is now happily married to one of the leading party members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Adorye. The couple publicly professed their love for each other on several occasions, with Adorye reaffirming his love for his wife on her birthday last year.
Gifty’s comments have sparked debate on social media, with some critics saying that cheating should never be normalized in a marriage. Others, however, agree with Gifty’s perspective and believe that acknowledging the possibility of cheating can make it easier to forgive and move on.
