The organizers of the annual EMY Africa Awards have released the nomination of the 8th edition of this year’s award.

The EMY Africa Awards is a prestigious awards event known for honouring and celebrating the excellence of men who are change-makers in their respective societies. The awards over the years have grown to become one of the most prestigious awards in Africa and also give complimentary honour to women whose activities have positively impacted society. A notable recipient of this complementary honour is Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, NSMQ Quiz Mistress.

In the nominations announcement show on Sunday, 16th July 2023 which aired live on JoyPrime TV and Joy 997.FM ahead of the main event which comes off on Saturday 14 th October 2023 in Accra, only nominees for the five competitive categories (public voting categories) were announced – Man of the Year – Music, Discovery of the Year, Actor of the Year, Man of the Year, Sport and Designer of the Year.

For Man of the Year – Music, Black Sheriff, Camidoh, Kidi, KingPromise and Stonebwoy secured their sport in the category.

The nominees for the Actor of the Year category are Adjetey Annang, Tobi Bakre, Bill Asamoah, Anthony Woode, and Chidi Mokome.

Designer of the Year nomination has names like JayRay Ghartey (JayRay Fashion) Andrew Mackenzie (Jesu Segun Lomdon) Elikem Kumordzie (Elikem the Tailor) Free the Youth and Kenneth Tetteh.

For the Man of the Year – Sports category, Joseph Paul Amoah, Benjamin Azamati, Mohammed Kudus, and Abraham Mensah whilst the Discovery of the Year category included Manuel Koranteng, Paul Ninson, Perez Musik, and Mohammed Kudus

The honorees of the honorary categories will be awarded at the main awards event, spanning categories such as; Man of the Year, Magnate Award, Humanitarian Award, Young Achiever Award, Lifetime Achievement Award. Diasporan Award, Continental Icon Award, The Technology Award, Woman of the Year, The Guardian Award, Health Award, and the Agriculture Award.

Kojo Soboh announce that EMY Africa will be holding a soirée in Lagos, Nigeria, in August, as part of the build-up activities for this year’s awards.

He also added, “EMY awards always set the bar with their premium world-class productions, and we can’t wait for you to see what this year’s awards will be like and the personalities shortlisted for the awards”

The hosts of the nominations announcement show- actor and two-time EMY Africa Awards honoree, Adjetey Anang, and TV host and actress, Sika Osei urged the general public to visit www.emyafrica.com to vote for their favourite nominees as voting ends on Friday, 6th October 2023.
