The foundation is all set to launch the “Single Teenage Mother Initiative” (STM) on November 1, 2023, with the primary objective of empowering these young mothers by providing them with comprehensive support and resources to build a brighter future for themselves and their children.
The STM initiative is not only a remarkable step towards gender equality but is also intricately aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The STM project is divided into two essential phases: STM Back to School and STM Skill Training. In the Back to School phase, the initiative will provide scholarships, educational resources, mentoring, and policy advocacy to ensure that single teenage mothers have access to quality education, aligning perfectly with the objectives of SDG 4.
In the Skill Training phase, the STM initiative will equip these mothers with marketable skills, enhance their employability, and ultimately break the cycle of poverty. It will provide vocational training, life skills development, and job placement opportunities, all in harmony with SDGs 1 and 8.
