In commemoration of World TB Day, the Aurum Institute of Ghana has donated various health commodities to the Iran clinic and Lapaz community hospital in Ghana.

The two facilities were chosen due to their significant contribution to the national TB case notification, having received gene expert machines for TB diagnosis during the implementation of the TB Reach Wave 6 Project.

The donations include 6000 sputum containers, 500 COVID-19 antigen test kits, 5 liters of 40 gallons of liquid soap, 48 packs of tissue towels, 40 packs of disposal gowns, 2000 packs of facemasks (KN), 10 packs of surgical gloves, 960 packs of face shields.

The Institute, in collaboration with the National TB control program, decided to support the facilities with these commodities to continue their excellent work in TB diagnosis.

Dr. Zakaria Adam, a medical officer at Iran clinic, noted that the clinic receives an average of ten to fourteen cases of TB per week, making it a critical facility for TB diagnosis in the catchment area. He advised the public to be mindful of their health and visit the nearest hospital if they experience TB symptoms, especially during the initial stage.

Dr. Axalender Allotey Addo, the head of Clinical and Operations at Lapaz community hospital, expressed gratitude for the donations, noting that they would go a long way in improving the services the hospital offers.

He encouraged Ghanaians to come in for TB screening, particularly those in the catchment area.
