The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has conveyed its deep regret regarding the untimely passing of Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Sapak Dickson, a member of the 48 Engineer Regiment.
Lance Corporal Dickson’s lifeless body was discovered hanging from an electrical cable within the Unit’s guard room, marking a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded on Friday, October 13, 2023, at approximately 0530 hours.
Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation have revealed that Lance Corporal Dickson, who was facing multiple allegations of fraud, had been placed in close custody on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at around 1930 hours, following a report submitted to the Regiment implicating him in defrauding a Defense Civilian Staff member.
To unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragedy, a dedicated team comprising personnel from the Ghana Military Police and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) based at the Teshie Divisional Police Headquarters has been dispatched to the scene for a comprehensive inquiry.
Subsequently, the remains of the deceased soldier have been transferred to the 37 Military Hospital mortuary.
The GAF, in this moment of profound loss, extends its sincerest condolences to the grieving family, colleagues, friends, and all loved ones of Lance Corporal Sapak Dickson.
